In what could spell trouble for the son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and ex-Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, a CD has surfaced in which he is shown asking for a bribe of Rs 20 crore in exchange for party seat in the Upper House of the Parliament, as per news reports on Sunday.
The 35-minute CD allegedly shows Kumaraswamy asking for Rs 20 crore bribe from a Janata Dal (Secular) leader for being elected as MLC. The CD, played by Kannada television channels, shows Kumaraswamy speaking to the supporters of JD(S) functionary from Bijapur, Vijugouda Patil Balaga.
In the video released by Vijugouda Patil Abhimanigala Balaga (Vijugouda Patil Fans' Association), Kumaraswamy is seen asking for bribe and telling Vijugouda's supporter, “Give me Rs 20 crore, I will try to convince MLAs,” a news report stated.
After the CD surfaced, Kumaraswamy did not deny the conversation and said that the discussion was in tandem with the current flow of the politics.
