Indians living outside India are called NRI. Currently persons living outside state are also called NRI. Every state is busy in bringing their state NRI back to parent state as if lockdown is to stay here for ever and as if economic activities will never resume. Position is turning pathetic.
India feel pride in bringing back their citizens from other countries affected by Covid 19. Now State CMs feel pride in bringing back their state persons from other states.
Now question arises how factories in other states run by persons of other state will resume their function after end of lockdown period. Obviously entire manufacturing sector will suffer severely. On the contrary ,unemployment will increase multifold in some states.
How every state will provide job to all incoming persons is another big question. Will such crisis lead to more pain, more crime, more loot or more exploitation?
I cannot answer this question . However I request heads of central government as well as that of state governments to chalk out immediately their future course of action to settle increased workforce if they have brought more labour from other states or to feel the gap created by exodus of such a large workforce from their state.
We have to be well prepared to deal with both situations, one created by exodus of workforce and another by unprecedented rise in workforce in some states.
It is true that labourers coming back to their parent state are feeling great relief keeping in view fearful environment created by Corona pandemic. But after few days they may face another crisis created by joblessness. Similarly factories run by NRI state labourers may face huge problems in resuming their factory and industry or any other shop establishments.
Consequences of such imbalances created in society and in state demography , production of many goods and services will get affected adversely.
After all we cannot afford continuance of lockdown for a long period. We have to learn to live with this deadly virus and resume all economic activity at the earliest and simultaneously we have to use all preventive measures to protect us from deadly Covid 19.
We have eradicated and won over many deadly deceased like Polio, TB, Bird Flu, pnumania and what not. It is certain we will overcome Corona virus too and start living normal life. But we have to plan strategies well in advance visualizing all probable outcomes of Corona pandemic spread all over the world.
After end of Lockdown 3.0 on 17.04.2020 I am certain government will pave the way for resumption of schools & colleges, industrial activities and normal business activities and at the same time ensure strict discipline, social distancing and wearing of mask in all spheres of life where accumulation of people is anticipated. Enforcement of guidelines should be the duty of all connected agencies . Otherwise we may invite a bigger problem.
